Brian Eno Encourages Support to Get Together for Palestine Lullaby to UK Festive Top Spot.
A campaign is aiming to send a traditional song from Palestine to the top of the UK charts. The project aims to provide aid to people in Gaza while also spotlighting Palestinian culture and creativity.
An Opportunity for Support and an "Unlikely Coup"
Composer and producer Brian Eno, who performs on the track, stated that the release called 'Lullaby' represents a moment to stand with Palestinians this festive season. He remarked the potential for an unlikely festive coup.
âIt would be incredible if that came to pass, yes,â he commented. âIâm not gonna be completely let down if it doesn't manage to, Christmas singles are a category of their own.â
Defiant Message of Freedom and Dignity
Palestinian singer Nai Barghouti, who performs on the adaptation of a folk song called Yamma Mwel El Hawa, explained the track's defiant core message.
âThe song holds a deeply meaningful spot for a lot of people,â Barghouti shared. âThe message is that I would choose to perish with honor than live a life without freedom. Thatâs the main theme of the song; we want to live a life of dignity that we deserve as Palestinians.â
Production History and Star-Studded Lineup
The single was laid down in the wake of a major charity concert held in September. Originally intended to be captured during the live event, the performance was shelved during the concert due to scheduling overruns.
The diverse array of artists featured on Lullaby encompasses a selection of prominent voices from the industry. All were part of the earlier concert, which reportedly raised a considerable total for relief efforts.
Final Touches and Availability
Lullaby was crafted by a trio of music creators. The track showcases a fusion of the heritage language with freshly written English words.
The group managing the project have emphasized that their aim is to raise as much as possible for a charitable pot. These resources will be allocated to projects in Palestine through an established charity.
âWe donât have a specific target,â a representative explained. âWe will pursue whatever we can get. Naturally, the higher the total, the greater the impact. All proceeds are directed out to the people of Gaza.â
The reality in the region was characterized as its extreme devastation, with a overwhelming percentage of infrastructure reportedly in ruins or severely impacted.
âGiven that reality, a handful of millions doesnât make a massive dent. But I think what truly matters is primarily raising awareness for this issue and demonstrating that another narrative exists.â
The single 'Lullaby' is launching on Friday. Additionally, a full recording of the solidarity show will be made available for streaming on a popular streaming site from the 19th of December.
