Canada's Blue Jays Secure World Series Showdown Against the Dodgers

George Springer celebrating

Springer was instrumental for the Astros securing the World Series in 2017.

The Toronto Blue Jays reached their first championship series since 1993 by overcoming the Mariners in the final seventh game of the AL Championship Series.

Behind by two runs, outfielder George Springer delivered a three-run homer in the seventh frame, propelling the Toronto squad in MLB to a four games to three triumph in the best-of-seven series. They will now face the defending champions, holders of the defending champions, in the forthcoming championship.

"It's incredible for this squad, Toronto, our country," said Springer, a key player of the Astros team that claimed the 2017 World Series. "This is such an incredible feeling."

George Springer has now hit 23 October home runs, ranking him third all-time behind Ramirez (29) and Jose Altuve (twenty-seven).

"I can't think of another player anywhere that I'd choose in that moment except for him with his post-season brilliance," said Schneider.

Seattle's team, after leading the series two games to none and three games to two, remain the sole team yet to make an appearance in a championship series.

Mariners manager Dan Wilson stated "there's no question that it hurts" following his side's defeat at Rogers Centre, but applauded their work throughout the year.

"They're an exceptional squad. Sadly that we ended up on the unsuccessful side of this game," he continued.

Toronto's team claimed the World Series on both previous visits in the early 90s, and will welcome the Los Angeles in game one on the upcoming Friday.
