Slot Maintains He Feels Safe and Retains Liverpool's Support Following PSV Humiliation

Arne Slot conceded that it was natural for doubts to be asked about his position following a further convincing loss against PSV Eindhoven.

The Reds endured their 9th loss in twelve games, representing the club's poorest run after being relegated in the 1953-54 season.

They were taken apart by the Eredivisie champions on a tough night at Anfield.

“I feel secure, I am OK, I've received plenty of support from above,” the coach commented.

“It would be nice to reverse this trend and secure a win obviously but when you're in a managerial role and not doing well then it's typical that questions are asked.”

He continued, “I accept my position. This isn't the initial instance I’ve been in a challenging situation but it's necessary that we improved our results.”

Conversations with Liverpool Hierarchy

When asked to expand on his discussions with the team officials, Slot explained:

“We talk a lot. They are supportive for the squad and for me and those talks happen but they aren't calling me constantly each day to say they have faith in me.”

He mentioned, “During our regular discussions I sense the belief. But I haven’t spoken to them after this match so far so let’s see.”

Persistent Failings and Player Response

The manager lamented recurring weaknesses from his Liverpool side in their Champions League loss, specifically wasted chances and conceding too easily.

Meanwhile, midfielder Jones was blunter in his assessment of the team's situation.

“I don’t have the solutions. Frankly, I do not. I'm telling that to all,” Jones stated.

“It’s just unacceptable. I don’t even need to wait to think about it. I'm beyond being angry internally. I've reached the stage currently where I simply lack the words.”

He added, “It’s hard because I play for the team I support. I’m a fan, and I’ve seen Liverpool for years.”

“In recent memory, I've not seen a Liverpool team going through a spell like this with results this poor.”

He stated, “But we continue to wear the emblem on our chest. And as long as that badge is removed, we’re always going to compete.”

“We will attempt to help the side return to its rightful place, prove once more the values of this club and why people call it the greatest side in the world.”

“But right now, things are bad and it needs to change.”
